Trucks to South America
A Brazilian national approached Gateway with US residence and solid contacts in Brazil. Since the client's firm was a start-up, it had firm orders for US-made pickup trucks but lacked the resources to purchase the trucks in the States. Gateway coordinated with the client's company to achieve an appropriately structured letter of credit from the Brazilian buyers. Gateway also arranged for transport logistics and insurance while the trucks were moved to ports in Houston and Miami.
The client located and purchased vehicles in several states and Gateway provided funding for there purchases.
Gateway coordinated with the freight forwarder to store vehicles and prepare them for shipment. The freight forwarder provided documents for Gateway to present against the buyer's letter of credit.
ATV Distribution
An importer of motor scooters and personal ATVs was experiencing substantial growth for its product. While the company had a commercial banking relationship, its bank was unwilling to open letters of credit to Asian suppliers based only upon the distributor's customer purchase orders.
The supplier was a well-known Chinese manufacturer and the customers were large regional distributors.
Based upon the client purchase orders, Gateway opened the necessary letters of credit. Merchandise was then shipped directly to the final distributors and Gateway was repaid by advances from the client company's commercial bank.
